Bavarian State Prize 2025

Honoured at the International Crafts Fair: Our nickel- and lead-free trumpet „la rossa“

A great honour for our „la rossa“ trumpet: Our family business Werner Chr. Schmidt Mundstücke und Metallblasinstrumente was awarded the Bavarian State Prize 2025 for this nickel- and lead-free instrument. The award ceremony took place at the International Crafts Fair in Munich, which was held from 12 to 16 March.

As a traditional Vogtland company, we are one of the 20 international prize winners and received the award in the technology category. The prize, endowed with 5000 euros, recognises the outstanding craftsmanship behind „la rossa“, which was developed by our master metal wind instrument maker Max Hertlein.

Our trumpet was also in the spotlight during the official media tour: Federal Chancellor Olaf Scholz (SPD) stopped by our stand and picked up the copper trumpet himself. With the right mouthpiece and the right instrument, he even managed to produce a clear sound - proof of the quality and easy playability of our new trumpet.

Also visiting our stand were film crews from the TV stations RTL, ZDF, n-tv and WELT.
